Replacement of Scenes
Overall we replaced some scenes to our storyboard by putting them in a different order or changing them completely. This was because we felt that when we put them together on iMovie we felt that it didn't look as good as we thought it would so we had to alter them to make it look more effective. We also had a lot more footage then we thought we would get so we had more freedom to change scenes.
The bits we missed out were of Mason inside the house in bed waking up. We felt that the lighting wasn't bright enough and it didn't give the music video any justice as it seemed a bit random that the majority of our filming was outside and active.
We were also going to get a collection of videos of Mason when he was younger and other photos of him but we felt again that it would make it too complicated and it was more about a love story not just him as a person.
We also didn't use one of our props which was a watch because we felt like it was needed.

More Fast Pace Editing
We decided that Ffion would do the fast pace shots. I left gaps when the music did lots of beats at a time. When I finished my editing Ffion when back and edited it. She got clips that were all random and then made them structured by doing for example location, art, actor, art, train, art. This shots had to fit into a 4-5 second shot which had 8-10 beats so the shots had to be about 0.5 each. She had to listen hard to make sure she was matching the visuals to the quick beat. When she finished them it looked really effective.
Adding and Changing of Lip Syncing
We had loads of narrative in our video but less performance so it was crucial to add more lip syncing to I mad sure there were plenty of gaps to put in lip syncing. This was replacing the scenes that Mason was going to lip sync too. We already had put in the text that we needed that said the lyrics on so all we had to do was to match the lip syncing to the song. We realised that we we placed the lip syncing in that it looked boring as it was mainly 5-10 seconds of the same shot. This became a bit tedious. We then decided to experiment a bit by placing other angles of Will in the lyrics to make it look more interesting. We did this by simply placing shots over the top of each other. This became vital as we didn't have to waste time in matching the shots if we had to cut them out to change them. When I put the shots in I had to use the background music of the lip syncing to listen to the lyrics he was saying, then I had to put in on the video. Then I had to mute the background music and match it to the actual music video song. I had to alter the music video but cutting it so it was on time with the music. Lastly we noticed that Will looked down for a second in some of the shots because of he wad recapping the lyrics on long shots. In order to fix this we put clips over the top of him dancing which also made it look more interesting.

Adding Clips from Weston
To create a stronger narrative I decided that I would add in the locations separately and build them up in the narrative and show them properly in the verses (This excludes chorus because Ffion used some of the shots for it). I decided to use the Bristol ones first including the travelling, then have Will lip syncing and then Weston including travelling on the trains. The Severn Beach filming could be placed anywhere because we didn't have both actors and it was to help with general footage in the chorus. Also we wanted more shots than we needed and the shots we did film we felt that they weren't that necessary and it would have been too crowed if we had tried to incorporate another big location into the filming.
The weston clips were essential as it had both actors in. The second verse of the song was mainly about this location and the travelling to get their. I really wanted to get across the narrative of the song of them being in love from the weston clips as they are together. I used all sorts of editing techniques that I have previously used to make it more interesting but I used slower cuts to show clearly what the narrative was between the two actors. I also used the different camera angles in the filming in different times to make it look more interesting as it was more varied.

Pace of Shots
The pace of the shots were every important because I had to match the shot landing on the beat or it would look untidy ad jolty. This meant that when a new shot went on I went over it lots of times to make sure it was dead on the beat. If it was out of time then I altered shots to make them shorter or longer. I also tried to keep the pace of the shots to the pace of the music to make it match. This would also help the build of the narrative to compliment the song. To do this for the verses I made them slightly slower and showed more narrative. Then on the build up to the chorus I use less narrative and they got quicker cuts. I also started to use jump cuts as they looked really effective. Then I left the really fast beats to Ffion. Controversially when I used the slow motion on the build up before the beat stopped before it build up to the chorus again. I experimented and this seemed to work well with the music. I also continued to make the shots faster, slower and reverse them.

Fast Editing Preparation
Just before the chorus there is a very quick 7-9 beats. We wanted to include no narrative in the fast bits as it would be complicated so we put in quick random shots that would stand out. We then decided that Ffion felt more comfortable doing as she had previously done the quicker shots in the beginning. I then used the same principle as the lip syncing by writing in. I then could continue my editing knowing that Ffion would go back to edit it at the end.
During the chorus which is very quick I also left that for Ffion. Whenever the beat dropped to go into the chorus I left it blank right at the moment the music changed. Then as soon as the chorus finished I when straight back into editing with shots that then fit the beat on the song. This is so that I could continue with the steady narrative and get the times right for the lip syncing.
Furthermore I had to consider all the timings of the lip syncing and matching the beat. For example if the lip syncing started on 1:23 and I put another clip in before it that was 0.8 then the timing would be out. I had to constantly go back and check that what I was filming previously wouldn't effect the rest of the videos timings.

Adding Lip Syncing
Looking at our footage from Bristol we decided that the lip syncing of the main character wasn't good enough as he struggled. We then decided to use someone else. Instead of putting the lip syncing in of the actor to help with placing the places where the lip syncing would be we thought it would become complicated. Therefore we decided to add a blank screen of what the words would say to remind us- this would also help when it comes to filming so we knew what lyrics to do. This also meant that we could continue to edit and we wouldn't waste any time waiting for the other footage.

Initial Editing
Before we started to edit me and Ffion decided that it would be better if I did most of the narrative and the lip syncing and Ffion did the chorus and quicker bits. This was because we had previous experience in these and felt that we were better in these particular areas. Furthermore I did the majority of the filming as I felt more comfortable and because I knew how to I use a variety of cuts and can place things well. Ffion did the majority of the filming because she had more experience with the cameras and was good at filming the content. During filming she directed most of the filming and I would help with placing the props and the actors. Lastly I started the editing straight away and left the finishing touches to Ffion. We put all of the filming on iMovie and put the song on and started to edit.

In the beginning of the song it starts of really slow so we wanted a slow build up to match. This meant that we used slow motion and only did fast cuts on the quick beat. We also wanted no narrative in the beginning to make it a simple begging so it would be easier to understand. Lastly we introduced the main character slowly to show more impact when you did see him by showing him blurred on the cross dissolve. Then continued to film behind him for a bit. This also eased the narrative in subtly so it didn't become confusing.

We also used a shot of the traffic in slow motion and reversed as this added a slow interesting start. Ffion played around with the beginning with these shots by changing the pace, reversing them and dissolving them. She then did them individually and decided they looked better like that.

Filming in Studio
We deiced to get an additional actor for our lip syncing. He is called Will and he does drama so he was more confident on the exaggerating of the lip syncing which is what we needed. He was also very reliable as he attends sixth form with us. Furthermore he stuck to the dress code which suited the genre of music. We set the studio up so that we had a black background
and two very bright lights which shone either side of the actor which made the lighting look professional.
He was confident with lip syncing throughout and he exenterated the words clearly. He was also good at remembering lyrics so we could film for a longer time and do more than one line which helped us save time and to focus on trying different camera angles and movement to make it look more interesting.
The only problem was that to begin with had to adjust the lighting so that it wouldn't have any shadows or see the beyond the background which meant less time filming but we managed to get it completed anyway so it didn't matter too much.

Filming in Weston Super Mare
Our filming in Weston was of our actors Mason and Ellie. This was for our narrative. The weather was perfect for filming. This is because it was sunny and not raining, this helped make out shots look better. We took the tripod again as we found it very helpful last time we filmed. We had to bring the red cloth which was our prop which we remembered. The weather also helped with this as it was slightly windily so it gave a nice flow for the red cloth.
We managed to film most of our filming which was on the train, at the train station, the beach, on the pier and inside the pier. The actors were both very confident which reflecting in their acting which meant we could get filming done in sufficient time as we didn't have to re film much.
We managed to get the majority of the filming done and even more than needed as once we were there we could experiment was we got extra shots of Ellie walking though the town.
We tried lip syncing again however we still had the same problem before ands this only encouraged us to find a new actor quickly so he could do the performance based filming. We didn't get a full amount of time in the pier die to it closing early which we didn't consider. This meant we didn't get them on the rides however those shots were necessarily and we got other shots instead which can replace them.
Lastly we decided that this would be our last location as it would become too crowded and complicated if we added another location. We also had lots of footage so it wouldn't be very effective to film even more as it could be a waste of time.

Filming in Severn Beach
Our filming was just of our actor Mason and was about getting more shots in that we could use to we defiantly had enough filming to use as we didn't want to waste time by having to plan re filming. We managed to get a lot done in a relatively short time that we had and got all the filming that we wanted from the storyboard. However the weather was really bad. We filmed in just under an hour before it started to get really windy and heavily rain. Lucky the rest of the filming was inside the house but it still would have been better to get more shots outside.
This filming was of Mason walking along the path with the bridge in the background as it was a nice setting. There was also an small abandoned fairground which we took random shots of. We also used a dog in it to make it more realistic which wasn't planned but we thought we would experiment by putting the dog in their. The shots inside were of Mason waking up as it went with some of the lyrics.

Filming in Bristol
Our filming in Bristol was of our actor Mason and the scenery. The filming with Mason in was for the narrative and the rest of the scenery we planned for the shots for the chorus. The weather was dull but it didn't rain so it meant we could still film. We also had the tripod to make our filming smoother and we could have static shots. It also helped with moving the camera about with the motion of the actor. We didn't take the skate board which was one of our props because we felt that it wasn't needed. This was due to the change in our specific song audio which didn't have the skating noise on the beginning of the song.
We managed to film all of the shots for our narrative in Bristol city centre and even more than we really needed which will help us when editing as we can have plenty of shots to work with especially if our other shots don't look as good and we need to replace them. This saves us having to back out to film which could waste time as we could have been editing. We took shots of him travelling to and walking around Bristol. We also took some shots of the harbor, small festival, monuments, bear pit and the city centre.
The problems we encountered were that even though our actor could act well he struggled with the lip syncing as he couldn't put the words together well. This would have made editing difficult as we couldn't see it clearly. This has altered our music video slightly as we decided that we would only have him act and have a separate person to be our singer in a studio.

Presentation to class from LeahDixonxxx

Learning Comments
Biggest Strength of the project
-The amount of planning, good scheduling
-The narrative was well planned and matches the location choice
-Locations are very varied and vast
Potential Problems and Solutions
-Lighting: Get to the locations early as possible to use maxium use of light and filming time
-People braking the 4th wall: Individual performance will have to be good if there is not band
-Distance of locations can be difficult to re-shoot- Use maximum filming time by being organised

Weather Forecast
Saturday 12th November
We decided to check the weather forecast for our filming to see if we could film in the conditions we need so that we could alter the time we film if the weather was bad. The weather at the moment seems that we can just about be able to film. We have plans that we will film as much as possible and if it rains heavily then we will go inside to film art pictures for our video so we wont waste any time.

Creating a Brand (23)
Extra Learning Comments
I got my inspiration from the existing logos. I noticed that they were fairly bland and used black and white. I decided to follow the trend of the colours to match the other logos. I made it more recognisable by using adding another colour to stand it out. I also saw that the logo was not in a bland text so I experimented with using a variety of texts. Finally all the logos fit in with the genre of the music which I decided to incorporate too to give it more of an identity.

My Filming and Editing Schedules (25)
Learning Comments
I created a visual schedule so that it will be easy to read when we need to know what dates to film on with what props (I put the definite dates at the bottom) I also sent this to the actors so that they could see what to expect on that day and to know the date and time. We plan to film during a whole weekend as thats our availability to book in a camera for a weekend. This means that we have a long time to film the majority of the shots. if there are more shots that we missed or we need to redo we can always rebook the camera for a short day to refilm. I also put down the dates for editing. We decided that as soon as we got the first lot of filming that we would start editing immediately to make the most of our time.

Storyboard and Shot List (21)
Initial Ideas for Editing
Actual Storyboard and Shot list
Learning Comments
We decided to redo our storyboard and shot list as we felt that it didn't go into much depth of detail. This would then mean that when we came to filming that it wouldn't be very organised and easy to follow. Although we will keep and use most of the shots we might change the order slightly depending on the timings of the song as the shots have to fit the song at the right time. This means we might have to alter the order slightly. We also planned that we would film more than needed so we are reassured that we defiantly have enough filming to use and to prevent having to go out refilm which is not using time effectively.
