Analysis Of Digipak and Digipak Poster (3 & 4)

Learning Comments for Digipak

From this task I found out what digipaks are and what needs to be in them.  I also found out that from the interview that people generally buy them if they are a single so I will consider  doing my song as a single to make it more successful. Also due to the lack of accessibility to the digipak and how people usually only buy singles my digipak has to stand out. To do this I have found out what needs to be included into a didipak which I will add all of it in. Then I could consider adding a personal signature to make it more original. Due to didipaks being more appreciated than albums due to fans it should be easy to promote. The fans are the target audience because they are the main audience that are going to be buying it. However digigpaks are more expensive to buy than albums. This means that i will have to include everything in a didpak and relate to the artists. If the fans are buying it then it needs to be very specific to the artist and follow all the themes of the album. The digipaks posters can also help this. Furthermore digipaks can be expensive to make or fairly cheap depending on the material. To make a successful digipak using the more expensive material may be more promotional in the end which will make more fans want to by it. I also found out that they buy a popular album so it will have to look interesting if they are wanting to buy the digipak due to the novelty of it.

Learning Comments for Digipak Advert

I will defiantly take into consideration the codes and conventions. This is because for it to be successful it needs to have everything a standard digipak has because it has to compete. It also has to advertise the artist as much as possible so all aspect are needed. I have also learnt that the most famous people have incorporated multimedia to help promote this. They used there existing website which includes even there old albums however the other artist did not use this. I could also take the matching themes into consideration as it was like creating a brand identity that can become recognisable. In order to do this I could match the artist clothes, album, digipak and poster to fit the same theme. Furthermore when one artist did the same theme but changed it slightly for the poster it look really effective and I will incorporated this into my work as it stood out from the others. Lastly making the name into the theme is also really important due to identity and its usually the biggest and first thing you see on the poster.

Analysis Of Music Websites (2)

Learning Comments

I have learnt about different types of website pages which will help me with mine. I have looked at different genres, artists and age of different websites and how they all differ and what makes a good homepage. I found that the solo artist had less information that the other one which contained a lot of information as bands. However this could be due to the age  difference as well. The video for the solo artist also looked very modern and wasn't on the older website homepage which I would also like to include in my homepage as it did stand out. I found the older ones were more cluttered and although up to date I felt that it wasn't managed that well. The solo artist website although older seemed more structure and easy to use and had only necessary information and laid out very modernly. I found that the older website homepage contained too much unnecessary information which help to clutter it. Spuriously the social networking on the older website was a bar on the side which was easy to navigate which could be an option for my homepage.
Overall by looking at a range of website homepage from all different types I can use some of there ideas and use my own.

Lip Syncing Take Two (9)

This is our improved lip syncing.

Learning Comments

We decided to redo the video because although we did lots of sounds it was in short shots and we were in the same place, this meant it didn't have much a variety. Although is one song it is varied and has lots of different shots. We did lip syncing with lots of people and had other shots that were just dancing with other people to make it more interesting and varied. We used different settings as well. We found this one easier to do as we had previous practise before. We also used a better camera so the camera quality is better and it was easier to sync because I could see more. The lighting was also improved as we filmed it outside which made the quality better. I now feel really confident about lip syncing.

Lip Syncing Take One (9)

This is our original lip syncing.

Learning Comments

We have learnt how to lip sync. We have learnt this so that when it comes to the making of the actual video we have already got the experience of the lip syncing so we we can focus on the making of the video rather than practising the lip syncing which could delay time. This will also help hugely as we established that lip syncing can also be very challenging if you do not elaborate on words. The understanding and knowing of the words is also important or else it looks like your mumbling and it doesn't become clear for the audience.
Furthermore when miming the song, timing was essential for editing. This is because of when the actual music was replaced with the song if it was slightly out then it would make the whole video look unprofessional due to the wrong timing- even if the lip syncing was correct. The overall editing was difficult because of the syncing having to be exactly in place.
We also experimented with different types of songs to see which songs were the easiest to sync too. We found the faster up beat music easier as we could be less serious when miming which was made us more comfortable to do.
A reason we found it hard was because lack of confidence. Although once we tried it several times we grew more comfortable and that enabled us to focus on really elaborating the words of the song without feeling uncomfortable. Lastly it also helped being in a group of three as it eased the tension rather than doing it alone.

History Of Music Videos (1)

Learning Comments

I have learnt the changes from very old music videos to the most recent and how they adapt to the updating of technology. The older music videos have the artist singing live on the stage with people watching them as an audience in the late 60's. As the years progress so do the music videos. They tend to get more adventurous with there ideas hence having scenes outside or in a specific building and then a variety of scenes mixing together in the 70's. After this the 80's experimented even more with scenes and perfected their lip syncing and camera quality improved immensely. However the stage remains preset until the middle 1990's. and the lack of audience drops and the artist has the most focus.  A significant change was in 1995 where the scenes used a lot of special effects that are used a lot however not necessarily very well as technology is rapidly improving. Throughout the years the narrative has become more present and clear, however the year is really started to demonstrate was early 2000's. The music videos since then have been improved via camera quality, special effects and perfect lip syncing.
The narrative also becomes a given. However the most recent video which is less than 6 months old seems to be an anomaly. It is mainly special effects and doesn't contain very many scenes and they are very bland. The only similarity is the lip syncing.
